I had a Qantas Frequent Flyer upgrade credit that was due to expire yesterday, so last week I rang Qantas to see if I could use some of my upgrade credits to upgrade my flight back from Hong Kong from Business Class to First Class. The colleague I was travelling with had called up the previous week to book his upgrade.
They managed to wait-list me for the upgrade, but when I got to Hong Kong, the flight was completely full in Business and First class, so I missed out, and lost that status credit.
You get that.
What’s worse, my colleague did get his upgrade through since he had booked a week earlier than I did. And naturally, he reminded me about it all the way from Beijing to Hong Kong, and then while in line waiting for our boarding passes while in Hong Kong. His excuse was that I would do the same to him if the roles were reversed. But honestly I’m not that petty ! (My wife would disagree strongly with me there :D )
First class is nice on an overnight flight since you get to lie down completely and it’s much quieter – especially when you don’t have to pay first class fares !
Can’t wait until the new skybeds are available in business class.
