Just a minor update to the site design with a narrower and cleaner layout. I decided to update my old “sunrise from a 747” photo that I’ve used as the header for a while now (taken in Feb 2000 on the return flight from my first ever overseas trip!)
The photo I’m now using was taken on our trip to South America in Jan / Feb this year. Specifically it is a Firebush plant at Onelli Bay in the Glaciers National Park, near El Calafate in Argentina. There are three glaciers in the background, all fed by the Southern Patagonia Ice Field.
Here is the uncropped photo:
That day was one of our favourites on the entire trip – not only was it a spectacular day (the previous days had been wet and miserable), but we also saw some amazing scenery of the lakes and glaciers, and got to see our first wild Andean Condors (6 in one day actually!). You can read more about it: Day 27 – El Calafate and Parque Nacional Los Glaciers

Simon – hi! You don’t know me but you are in a position to do me a quick but quite big favour. Your blog came up in a google search I did. I have bought a piano (Roland HP107) on Ebay and from your blog I think you have the same one. I need to know (and have not been able to discover anywhere on the web) if it is possible to take the piano apart for transport (before I drive halfway across England, UK to collect it) – in your blog you mention assembly of your new piano from two boxes – you would be helping me a lot if you can tell me if I will be able to separate a complete HP107 back into two parts to fit easily into a standard automobile. You are (one of my) last hope(s). Please reply to rustarhymes@hotmail.com – many thanks, Russell, UK.
