The final day of travel saw us leaving Mt Gambier around our normal time of 9am (SA time !), and we headed up the road to Millicent where we filled up with petrol. It started raining while we were there, and basically didn’t stop for the rest of the day – although it was heaviest for the hour or so it took us to get to Robe.
From Robe on, through Kingston SE (where we stopped for a quick lunch), Meningie, Wellington, Langhorne Creek, Strathalbyn, Macclesfield, Flaxley and finally Echunga – the wind got steadily stronger until it was basically gale-force and the car was getting very difficult to handle on the open road. The wind and rain made the travel a bit less pleasant, but at least we didn’t have much in the way of sight-seeing planned.
So we arrived here safe and sound at around 3:30pm, and will stay with Leannes parents in Echunga and my parents in Murray Bridge for 10 days before heading home on New Years Day.
I probably wont write much while I’m here – but I will do some entries for the trip home, as well as some statistics about the trip for those people interested (ie. me !)
