Today we returned to Freemantle, but this time by train. Caught the Red CAT around to the train station and then a train out to Freemantle.
We wandered the streets for a while, admiring the architecture of some of the older buildings in the area, before spending some time browsing through the Freemantle Markets.
We then walked around the streets a little more before jumping on the Freemantle CAT bus around to the Freemantle History Museum (the old asylum) to spend some time learning about the history of the area. After that, we jumped back on the CAT and rode it all the way back around the loop to where we started. Stopped and had some lunch down by the water at a very trendy fish-and-chip cafe (was nice too).
Next, we looked through the Roundhouse prison and whalers tunnel, before spending some time at the shipwrecks museum. Finally, we walked back to the old Freemantly Prison and took a guided tour of the facility learning all about its history. This took us through to about 5pm after which we caught the train back home.
