Construction camp at Olympic Dam villiage – still being used to house workers since there was a chronic shortage of accomodation (which I believe hasn’t improved since I was there in 1994!!).
The yellow car is mine, and the first window / air conditioner behind it was my room … badly located, since I got all the noise of people coming into the building via the doorway to the left of my room – and to the amenities block, which is the building on the left (you can see the white ventilation pipe).

I worked there as a tyre fitter. I was in room 59 and was close to the airfield but not much else. I loved my job there but the camp, cost of transport and cost of living there were just out of hand. I remember paying $50 one way into Roxby. The food at the camp also left a lot to be desired. I hope that has improved
