I’ve been a bit quiet of late … think of it like counting to 10 to hold my temper. Let’s put it this way, I think I’ve counted up to about 24,865,390 now while trying to keep calm.
I won’t go into too much detail, except to say that I was planning on attending IBM’s annual Software Group conference in Las Vegas last week, followed by Lotusphere in Orlando this week.
Our travel to the Software Group conference was cancelled – which annoyed me at first, but then since they were allowing us to still attend Lotusphere, I was okay – since it was Lotusphere that I really wanted to go to anyway.
But then, they cancelled Lotusphere too. That really upset me – mostly because of the short sightedness of it, but also because the two main reasons I was given for the decision, didn’t actually apply to me. I tried to get my local management to understand that I should still be going. I had my boss in the US telling me I should go, and he was paying too! But I gave up in the end – nobody was willing to fight the battle to make the bureaucrats understand why they should make an exception to an ill-conceived blanket rule.
So as a result, I’m at home this week, doing not much at all. I can’t – since I’m waiting for our planning session (which was supposed to be this week at Lotusphere), and my boss won’t be available until after Lotusphere. Actually – let me clarify, I’m doing stuff – but it’s not really what I consider worthwhile, just bits and pieces of cleanup work from last year. *yawn*.
