I just read up on the voice services offered by Agile Communications – an Adelaide based telco with their own network in regional South Australia.
They are offering pre-paid calling card, or local dial access to their network in many areas of SA, and even the other capital cities – and their call rates are extremely good.
With (according to their website) current local call access from:
Capital Cities: Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra (soon!), Melbourne, Perth (soon!), Sydney
Gawler / Barossa: Gawler, Willaston, Nuriootpa, Tanunda, Angaston, Lyndoch, Williamstown, Freeling, Greenock, Eden Valley
Fleurieu Peninsula: Willunga, Aldinga, Yankalilla, Normanville, Second Valley, Delamere, Cape Jervis, Victor Harbour, Goolwa, Mount Compass
Coorong / Murray: Mount Barker, Strathalbyn, Murray Bridge, Tailem Bend, Peake, Meningie, Narrung, Coonalpyn, Tintinara, Keith
and also Mt Gambier I believe.
If you live in these areas (even in the capital cities !), you can take advantage of the cheaper call costs to any phone or mobile in Australia – and if you are actually calling to a number within these areas (including calls from one capital city to another), you get even cheaper rates.
Given my parents live in Murray Bridge and Leanne’s parents are in the Adelaide local call area – this could represent a huge saving in long distance call costs if we were to use Agile. I’ll look into it some more.
