We were invited to a get-together for people in our street – it was nice being able to meet up with our neighbours and have a chat.
We all wore name tags with our street number on them so we could identify who lived where. It was quite a pleasant afternoon and we got to meet our next door neighbours who seem like nice people.
Everyone was surprised that we’d been here over 12 months already (54 weeks actually !) – everyone thought we’d only been there a few months. Yet another reason for everyone to get together … we haven’t even said hello to our next door neighbours in the 12 months we’ve been here – although we don’t tend to actually see them much since our house faces a different direction to theirs.
It’s a nice little community, and I got to have a chat to one of our local councillors about property development rules for the area (which has heritage protection controls in place). There are some changes happening soon, which will be interesting.
