We said goodbye to our unit today – one final visit to finish cleaning the oven and make sure we didn’t forget anything. Then we headed down to the real estate agency to return the keys. It’s a bit sad to go – we’ve been there six and a half years, but already I’m wondering how we survived so long there.
We really didn’t realise how noisy it was until we moved to our house – it’s just so quiet here. I guess a lot of the noise at the unit was from the before-, and after-school child care centre, and the roadworks on the new Lane Cove tunnel – but also the previous owners in the unit above us put floorboards down, and even with the insulation, we started hearing a lot more noise from the people who live there now – they seem especially clumsy, always dropping things on the floor. They are also door slammers – most annoying. The worst part of the unit was that every single unit block in the area seemed to have arranged for their gardening and outside clean up to happen on different days, such that almost every day of the week we suffered from leaf-blowers at 7am.
There’s none of that here. I just hope we don’t get possums in our roof :D
