Las Vegas to Los Angeles
We started the day early, getting up, finishing the packing, checking out of our hotel, NYNY, and loading up the car. We drove up the strip a bit to find Elvis-a-Rama, a museum dedicated to the life and history of Elvis, especially his time spent performing in Las Vegas.
It was a small, but very interesting museum, with lots of historical facts, and many pieces of memorabilia, including three of his cars, several Vegas-style “jump suits”, giutars, ukuleles, guns, and an amazing collection of record covers from all his singles and albums.
We also sat through a short performance of some of his songs by a local Elvis impersonator, which was very good and Leanne enjoyed thoroughly.
It was close to 2pm before we finally got back on the road and headed south on the I-15 towards Los Angeles.
After an “interesting” drive along LA’s freeways (I’ll never complain about Sydney traffic again !!), we finally got to the Westin, Los Angeles Airport just after 7pm.
After unpacking the car and getting settled, we decided to try and find a local laundromat to catch up with some washing. Fortunately we found one just up the road, and spend an hour or so getting our clothes washed and dried before heading back to the hotel and sorting out the bags and repacking them all.
Got to bed around midnight.
