From reports coming out of Mozilla, they achieved well over 1 million downloads of Firefox on day 1 of its availability.
That’s pretty darn impressive in my opinion.
From my own website stats for the month of October …
asksim.com 1283 hits, IE: 34%, Mozilla: 14%, Firefox: 8%
business.asksim.com 7591 hits, IE: 75%, Firefox: 14%
accounting.asksim.com 3509 hits, IE: 56%, Firefox: 25%
hampel.net.au 118511 hits, IE: 55%, Firefox: 5%
zoobeat.org 8692 hits, IE: 68%, Firefox: 10%, Opera 7%
lotuschannel.com 8893 hits, IE: 41%, Firefox: 24%, Netscape: 5%
… what’s really interesting is the diversity of browsers used ! Netscape hardly appears in some stats, but has a significant number in others, similarly Opera. What is undeniable though, is that Firefox is making huge inroads into the IE dominance, much more-so than Mozilla ever did.
And if you’re wondering what browsers make up the other % that aren’t listed in the stats above … they are mostly RSS feed readers ! I need to get the stats program updated to cater for the different types of feed readers so we can get some meaningful stats on that too.
