I’m off again – this time to Las Vegas for our annual Software Group kick off conference.
In previous years this conference has been held at a regional level, with the Americas holding their conference, followed the next week by the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) region, and then the third week by AP (Asia Pacific).
Even though the travel costs were less for people in the region, the time it took to organise three conferences every year, and the time the executives and key speakers ended up spending travelling to all three events, they figured the amount of business lost cost more than any potential savings in travel costs.
So this year, they are trying a different approach of bringing everyone to the one location – but naturally there are only a couple of places in the world capable of dealing with 15,000 people at once, and it’s just a drop in the ocean for the likes of Las Vegas.
So I’m flying out to LAX and then on to LAS today – I should be online at various times during the next week, so I’ll try and keep people up to date on what’s happening in the land of neon.
