New toy

Bought a new toy today … a vacuum cleaner !

It’s the techno-geek’s favourite cleaning buddy… a Dyson !

These things are so cool, not only do they look great, but they work really well too – they really suck ! (in the way vacuum cleaners are supposed to).

We got the Dyson DC-08 Turbine – not quite the top of the range… but then we couldn’t really see the value in paying an extra $100 or so for the DC-11, when there was hardly any difference, and it was an aweful colour (kind of pale green).

I’ve read that the Dyson range of vacuum cleaners is responsible for a dramatic increase in the number of men doing household chores… with a Dyson, vacuuming becomes less of a chore and more of a power-tool fun activity (insert tool-time grunt here) ! Let’s see what else we can suck up with this thing ! Let’s see if we can get even more dirt out of the carpet (you can literally see the dirt and dust accumulating in the collector bin) ! Let’s see that bug try and escape the jaws of THE DYSONATOR ! Wheeeeeeee !

I was chatting with one of my colleagues online today – I commented I was about to head out to buy a vacuum cleaner… he just asked “what are you buying ? A Dyson ?” – like there was no real alternative.

So is the Dyson vacuum cleaner like the iPod of the vacuum world ? I reckon if they did a black and red “U2 special edition” version of the Dyson (complete with signatures), it would sell well :D
