Melbourne

Flew to Melbourne this afternoon – teaching a class for some BPs/ISVs for the next couple of days … the same class I was in Brisbane teaching last week.

Plane was delayed an hour or so leaving Sydney … something about the generator in one of the engines being faulty so they couldn’t start the engine. mmm.

They got it fixed eventually and we made it down to Melbourne safely.

Counting to 10

I’ve been a bit quiet of late … think of it like counting to 10 to hold my temper. Let’s put it this way, I think I’ve counted up to about 24,865,390 now while trying to keep calm.

I won’t go into too much detail, except to say that I was planning on attending IBM’s annual Software Group conference in Las Vegas last week, followed by Lotusphere in Orlando this week.

Our travel to the Software Group conference was cancelled – which annoyed me at first, but then since they were allowing us to still attend Lotusphere, I was okay – since it was Lotusphere that I really wanted to go to anyway.

But then, they cancelled Lotusphere too. That really upset me – mostly because of the short sightedness of it, but also because the two main reasons I was given for the decision, didn’t actually apply to me. I tried to get my local management to understand that I should still be going. I had my boss in the US telling me I should go, and he was paying too! But I gave up in the end – nobody was willing to fight the battle to make the bureaucrats understand why they should make an exception to an ill-conceived blanket rule.

So as a result, I’m at home this week, doing not much at all. I can’t – since I’m waiting for our planning session (which was supposed to be this week at Lotusphere), and my boss won’t be available until after Lotusphere. Actually – let me clarify, I’m doing stuff – but it’s not really what I consider worthwhile, just bits and pieces of cleanup work from last year. *yawn*.

Melbourne this week

I’m in Melbourne this week – BP customer presentations, two day team meeting (!), and some training sessions for one of our BPs.

Staying at the Sofitel – nice hotel ! Love the surround sound system in the rooms – I remembered to bring the correct cable so that I can plug my laptop into the sound system and use it to play my MP3s – should be good !

Singapore

Off to Singapore this arvo – attending a class that I’ll be re-teaching back in Australia and New Zealand later on.

Adelaide

Off to Adelaide this evening for a couple of days visiting BPs and their customers.
