Basil Brush
Just looking at what’s on TV tonight – I noticed on ABC Kids a show which brought back memories from my childhood… The Basil Brush Show !! I used to love this show with its offbeat humour and that laugh from Basil Brush.
Dad used to have us in stitches with his impersonation of the Basil Brush laugh.
I was hoping it was reruns of some of the classic episodes – but alas, it was a remake with new actors and a slightly more pudgy looking basil.
Maybe it’s just me, but the humour really didn’t work for me this time. Then again, it has been 20 years or so since I saw the old episodes, and what amuses a kid isn’t the same thing that amuses a 30 year old.
At least they weren’t afraid to take the mickey of themselves, but I was disappointed that we only got one of the famous laughs – and it was rather half-hearted and right at the end.
I got quite excited there for a bit – only to be let down.
*sigh*
I reckon that the new Basil Brush Show is so much better than the other one!
I must admit, I’ve seen a few more episodes since I wrote that – and I do find it quite funny – and quite innovative with it’s humour.
